This year Aakash 2 tablet, the improved version of the original Aakash slate, is anticipated to belaunched in the month of May, which will also get Android 4.0 and Dual core processor later this year, as affirmed by its maker.
As per CEO of Datawind Suneet Singh Tuli ,”Aakash 2, in six to eight weeks time, will be updated with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, after the device is shipped to the government.”
Tuli continued, “With the price of the hardware coming down further, we will even offer improved dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor later in this year.”
In the beginning when launched in May, Aakash 2 will ship with the Android v2.3 Gingerbread OSand single-core 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor.
The ultra-cost tablet of Indian government, being touted as the world’s cheapest tablet, arrives with a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch and amended battery.
The Aakash 2 tablet, a significant upgrade over the original Aakash, which was denied by IIT-Rajasthan for poor features, will approach this time with 256MB of RAM and 2GB flash storage.
Since the start, Aakash project has been mired in obstructions and un-kept promises. If Aakash 2 will grab the Android 4.0 update, it will require to ship with very good hardware than what is being intended.
With the offer of Dual core processor revolves, it can be for sure probable given the lowering price of processors and chips are involved, but the timing and at which price that will occur is of course hard to foretell.
