The IPL series is losing its glory day by day. Just after the alleged spot fixing episode in the game, there is another reason for the IPL to look down. An Australian batsman, Luke Pomersbach from the Royal Challengers Bangalore team has been arrested on Friday for allegedly molesting an American woman and beating up her fiancé in a five star hotel.
Luke has not played a single match as yet in the entire series. This incident will prove out to be a hurdle for the team and add to the bundle of problems for its owner, Vijay Mallya.
Mallya has declared the suspension of the batsman until he is cleared of all charges.
The woman who has been supposedly harassed by the batsman said that Luke had invited himself for a drink with the couple and few mutual friends from Mumbai. She said that when she left all men and went to her room, the player followed her to her room and misbehaved.
Later, when her fiancé tried to protect her, Luke severely beat him. He is now admitted to a hospital.
A case has been registered against Luke. Sections including 354 of IPC( outraging modesty of women), 323 of IPC(hurt), 454(house trespass), 511 ( punishment for attempting to commit offence punishable with life imprisonment or other imprisonment) have been applied.
There has been an entire sequence of incidents degrading the spirit of the game. The IPL series is turning to become a cluster of happenings which can be called as a challenge for the legal set up.
