Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore also starring Sonakshi Sinha in the main lead gets a superb box-office response from the audience in the very first week itself. This film is the big release post IPL season.
Akshay’s action-packed movie Rowdy Rathore has surely cracked the collection record of his previous Housefull 2, but unfortunately it couldn’t beat the record of Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath in the first week.
Releasing on Thursday January 26, Hrithik’s Agneepath on the first day gathered around Rs 21.76 crores. On the four-day weekend, the film had raked up to Rs 62.11 crores. But during the weekends, the collections dipped extremely as it added only Rs 23.77 crores to its first week’s sum record of Rs 85.88 crores.
The masala film of Akshay with its world-wide release showed ‘housefull audience’ on Friday June 1 in every theatre with its first day collection figure making Rs 15.1 crore. It even progressed well on Saturday, with record in the first weekend touching Rs 48.3 crore.
Rowdy Rathore first week Box Office Collection Report
Different to Agneepath, Rowdy Rathore persisted to go strong on the weekends earning a good profit of Rs 79.52 crores in week one. The collections went steady with 15.1 crore on Friday, 14.7 crore on Saturday, 18.5 crore on Sunday, 9.5 crore on Monday, 8.12 crore on Tuesday, 7.1 crore on Wednesday, and 6.5 crore on Thursday.
However, Akshay Kumar’s previous film Housefull 2, which was released on April 5, 2012, had a reasonable profit of Rs 63.63 crores in 8-day week.
Well Akshay’s Rowdy Rathore which is going steady will surely do higher business over the upcoming weeks as it has already entered amongst the strongest openings of 2012.
