Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand showed enormous patience in him to play stably andbeat his opponent Boris Gelfand of Israel in a rapid tiebreaker, thus winning the World Chess Championship title 2012 for 5th time and 4th in a row on Wednesday May 30 at State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow.
Among the four quick chess games, three were drawn, but Viswanathan stole the second game from Boris. After a 6-6 deadlock in the 12-classical games, the rapid finale went in favor of Anand as it ended by 2.5-1.5. The King of Chess will own the crown with him till 2014, when the next World Championship will occur.
When the game ended, Anand replied in a conference, “The match between us was so leveled that I had no idea which form the tiebreak would inherit. Now I am very much relieved. My nerves held out for a better way. I cannot ask for more.”
Anand added, “After playing a tough 12 games, the tiebreak is a sensible situation that would keep us apart. Everything went related to my way in the tie-breaker, and finally won because I won.”
Lots of tension were grooving inside the Tretyakov Gallery. There was heated discussions going on, and everyone was so glued towards the game that they forget that Anand and Boris wereplaying 12-classical games over the last 3 weeks. Speed of Anand led him to the success.
Winning history of Viswanathan Anand
- In 2000, Anand won his first world title.
- Then he won the championship title continuously three in a row in 2007, 2008 and 2010.
- Then in 2012 he won the crown for the fifth World Championship title and fourth crown in a row.
- The 2007 crown was won by Anand among 8 players.
- In yesterday’s chess game win, he will own an approximate $1.4 million- 55% of the total prize fund of $2.55 million, whereas Gelfand will acquire the remaining amount.
The whole nation is proud of Vishwanathan Anand for achieving the World Championship title. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi congratulated Anand saying that he is a true legend who every time boosts the youth of our country.
