If you are a die hard fan of Windows Phone and have been using it for quite a while now, Skype is one of the applications you may have missed in your phone. It’s because up until now, Skype app was still under construction. But now the wait is finally over for Windows Phone 7 users. The much-anticipated Skype app has now been launched for Windows Phone at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
This now makes Skype available on almost all of the leading mobile smartphone operating systems. Anybody who owns one of the following devices – Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia Lumia 800, HTC Titan, HTC Radar, Samsung Focus S, Samsung Focus Flash or any other device featuring Windows Phone 7.5 – can download and install the app. Find the links at the end of the post.
Talking about the interface of the new app, as expected, Microsoft has given its Skype for Windows Phone beta a clean and simple sky blue design based on the Metro Style user interface. With Skype for Windows Phone Beta you can make free audio and video calls** to your Skype contacts over 3G and 4G or WiFi. You need to have Windows Phone 7.5 to use the new Skype app.
Please note that it’s a beta version of Skype app for Windows Phone. You can expect some some weird goings on throughout. The full version of the app will be available for download in April, as official source said. If you have a Nokia Lumia 710 or any other Windows Phone that don’t have a front facing camera, you can make a video call too, as long as your device is equipped with at least one camera.
“This is only the beginning for Skype for Windows Phone…it’s just going to get better and better” said Rick Osterloh, Head of Consumer Product Manager. You can download Skype for Windows Phone beta from this link directly from your Windows phone or get the app from Windows Marketplace. Want to know how this app works?
