The celebrated chef of our country, Sanjeev Kapoor got a rare opportunity to view the historic kitchen of the White House, which arranges food for the family of US President Barack Obamaand the huge number of guests who are being invited at their residence every day.
Chef Kapoor not only visited the historic kitchen, but also had a healthy discussion with the team of White House chefs at length, being led by its executive chef, William ‘Bill’ Yosses, for many hours yesterday.
He was escorted with K N Vinod, the distinguished Indian-American chef from Washington who manages three popular Indian restaurants in the capital of US.
As per Yosses, he loves Indian food very much. He toured Kapoor and Vinod around the White House Kitchen and the kitchen garden of the First Lady Mitchell Obama.
Yossess, who often visits to Indique and Indique Heights- the two well-known Indian restaurants in the capital, discussed about the further details of the expanding popularity of the Indian food in the US and at the White house.
The latest encyclopaedic work of Kapoor was on Indian food, ‘How to Cook Indian’ was presented by himself to Yossess and its copies were forwarded to President and the First Lady.
Kapoor said to PTI, “This was once-in-a-life-time experience which was immensely great.”
He added, “People there in US are so much interested to have Indian food. Whenever PM Manmohan Singh visits to the White House, Indian food being on the menu is quite natural. But the Indian food is being included in variety of ways.”
Yosses even showed Kapoor the background preparations for the easter.
Kapoor told, “Being a chef I can tell you that cooking for 4,000 people from that kitchen is pretty challenging.”
Lucky Sanjeev Kapoor who has got the lovely opportunity to visit US President Barack Obama’s White House kitchen!
