Sachin Tendulkar is truly the legend of Indian cricket and is credited for his achievements at the right time. The Maharashtra government has recommended the name of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for the country’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna.
It is on Wednesday April 5 that Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan made the grand announcement in the Assembly.
As quoted by CM of the state Prithviraj Chavan, “After the World Cup we have felicitated the player from the state. From that very time we are intending to recommend the name of the son of the soil, the son of Maharashtra for the Bharat Ratna for his superb achievements in cricket, and for guiding the youngsters of this country and being their role model.”
Sachin’s name having doing the rounds for Bharat Ratna since India won the ICC World Cup in 2011 after 28 years, but it was felt to be too early to give him.
On March 16, 2012 Tendulkar completed 100 centuries.
BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla said suggesting his name, “There is a huge more cricket left in him. He should be honored the highest civilian award.”
With that the Maharashtra government has even recommended former Chief Minister Yashwantrao Chavan for the award.
Guess this is the perfect time to honour the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar with India’s Bharat Ratna!
