Syria has consented to a ceasefire and peace plan drawn up by UN and Arab League special envoy Kofi Annan on Tuesday March 26, as told by his spokesman, though Syrian troops push forcibly into Lebanon to battle rebels who had taken already refuge there. The country hasaccepted to finally end the bloodshed.
Ahmad Fawzi said AFP, “He is looking for the positive development of the country, but the main key is the achievement of this goal,” after Annan held discussions with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing. Both the countries have voiced their full backing for each other.
Damascus had earlier agreed to Annan’s six-point plan intending to end the bloodshed in Syria, as said by Fawzi, where monitors say more than 9,100 people were killed as the regime of Assad breaks on protests.
The plan of Annan summons for UN-directed stop to fighting, the government pulling troops and heavy weapons out of protest cities, a daily-2 hour ceasefire and approach to affected areas.
He has also encouraged to release the detained people over the past year uprising against Assad’s regime.
