    Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar enters into a new phase of his innings after cricket and this is yet another glorifying period of his life. The legendary cricket has taken oath as a Rajya Sabha member in the office of vice president Hamid Ansari on Monday June 4.

    Sachin became the first active sportsperson of our country as he sworn in as a member of parliament. He was escorted by his wife Anjali Tendulkar and Rajya Sabha MP and IPL chief Rajiv Shukla.
    Soon after Sachin signed on the oath, he was bestowed with a golden shawl. Sachin told the reporters, “Cricket has presented me many things in the last 22 years of my international career. Now it is my turn to not only return back to cricket in a much better way, but also to give something productive to other sports.”
    Recently the ‘God of Cricket’ got nominated to the upper house, the Rajya Sabha, besides the film personality Rekha and industrialist Anu Aga in April, 2012.
    Delay occurred in Sachin’s case as he was busy playing in IPL- 5.
    Sachin still plays test and one day matches. It was in March when he scored 100 international centuries. Earlier he has been contemplated for the Bharat Ratna honor.
    Among the 250 members, the President has nominated 12 for extra-ordinary knowledge or practical experience in regards to literature, science, art and social service.
