Chennai : “Jayalalithaa” The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu appealed to the union government to declare National monument without any delay on Wednesday, this was stated just a day after Supreme Court wanted to know the center’s stand on Ram Sethu. She also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stating that, her governments also file an answer in order to express the centre’s stand in the Apex court. Here the issue will be posted for next hearing on 29th of March.
“As it is been seen that, there was a strong objection against the earlier position because of its historical, archaeological and cultural importance, I appeal to take an immediate action to clear the views of Government of India in Supreme Court so that it declare the national Monument as soon as possible” said Jayalalithaa.
Jayalalithaa said “As the opposition was so strong based on it’s earlier position 6 cutting across all the ancient structure, it is well known to everyone as a Ram Sethu because of its Immeasurable historical, heritage, archaeological value, regarding this issue many petitions were filed in Madras High Court as well as in Supreme Court”. In her letter, she stated that Apex court has director the Additional Solicitor Generalget the remarks of centre on Thursday while declaring the site as national monument. “Petition is already been filed in Supreme Court for the project of Sethu Samudram channel” Said Jayalalithaa.
It also has to take over some things like preserving and maintaining it in same situation for the department ofShipping/Surface transport and also for the Sethu Samudram Corporation Ltd, all these should carefully handled while the process of completing the Sethu Samudram Project. “I’ll send the government’s views regarding the R K Pachauri Experts Committee that was appointed by Centre in 2008 as per the directions of Apex Court”.
The Prime Minister team which was headed by Pachauri has examined the possibility to complete the controversial Sethu Samudram Project through Dhanuskodi instead of using the route ofRama Sethu.
