T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G users in the US will soon be getting the promised update that will upgrade their phone’s firmware version to Android ICS 4.0. As for those who are in the UK, you will also be glad to know that your HTC Sensation’s firmware can finally be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS. All thanks toVodafone UK. Just keep in mind that this is a staggered release. You might not be able to get yours today but you will certainly get one in the next few days or weeks.
According to Tom, the community manager of Vodafone UK, the said update will be rolled out in phases and will be pushed via OTA (Over the Air) service. We do suggest that before you perform the said update; do not forget to recharge your phone’s battery. Also, it would be best for you to carry out the download via Wi-Fi instead of 3G. Wi-Fi is better because it provides stable internet connectivity. As for those who cannot seem to wait for the notification arrive on their HTC Sensation, you can manually pull the update by going to Settings then select the option for About Phone. Tap on Software Update then select Check Now to check for any available firmware update. If you don’t get any, better re-check after a couple of days or so.
Not much has been stated about the ICS update for the HTC Sensation. But you will basically get a bunch of new features that will apparently include the new Face Unlock option. Similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S II, the icons of the HTC Sensation will have a new style but will still be layered with HTC’s Sense UI.
It’s been almost a year since the HTC Sensation was officially announced in the public. Boasting its 11.3mm thin body, the smartphone can still take pride of its 4.3 inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 16M colors. But aside from that, you can definitely rely on its 540 x 960 pixels multi-touch screen for viewing your photos and videos. The phone’s display is scratch-resistant as it is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass. You can also be assured that the handset’s 1.2GHz dual core Scorpion Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset can process your games and apps without lags.
Aside from the above specs, the HTC Sensation features a heap of impressive features that cannot be easily outdated even when compared to today’s new phones. As for those who were not able to get one, the smartphone flaunts a front facing VGA camera that can be used for video chats. It is also equipped with a rear facing 8MP camera with auto focus, geo-tagging and dual LED flash. Aside from taking quality shots, the snapper can also be used to record a bunch of 1080p HD quality videos. Moreover, HTC Sensation users can easily connect to the internet. They can connect via Wi-Fi or 3G and they can also make use of the phone’s 768MB of RAM, 1GB of internal storage and up to 32GB of external storage.
