As per the sayings of US, Japan and South Korea, the rocket flew for some time, before breaking down into pieces and dropping into waters off the Korean peninsula. North Korea’s official KCNA news agency reported that their scientists, technicians and experts were evaluating the cause behind the failure.
North Korea told that the main focus of the rocket was to launch a satellite into orbit- showinghonor towards the 100th anniversary of the birth of national founder Kim Il-Sung.
But the US and other nations say the launch constituted a disguised test of long-range missile technology banned under UN resolutions.
In a statement, the White House condemned the launch, despite its failure. The UN Security Council is due to meet later in the day to discuss the launch. China, North Korea’s closest ally, has called for calm and restraint on the Korean peninsula.
Earlier Kim Sung-hwan, South Korea’s foreign minister informed the journalists that the rocket shattered a few minutes after take-off, showering pieces in the ocean.
South Korea’s Kim told, “The launch of North Korea is an accurate rift of UN resolution which bans any launch utilizing the ballistic missile technology, which is an enraging act intimidating harmony and security on the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia.”
Today’s blast is the fourth failed rocket launch for North Korea till now, after its earlier attempts in 1998, 2006 and 2009.
