• Two earthquakes strike Maharashtra, Gujarat; no casualty reported


    Two mild earthquakes shook few parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra today April 14, but there were no reports of any casualty heard. This quake shakes up Bollywood ;Amitabh Bachchan , Kamal Hasan dauther and Neil Nitin Mukesh tweeted about it.
    An earthquake of 4.5 on Richter scale stroke Rapar Taluka area, Kutch, Gujarat with its epicentre on the Bhuj on Saturday 8:53 am as said by director, weather forecasting, west, Rajeev Nair.
    Two hours later an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit in few parts  of westernMaharashtra at 10.50 am with its epicentre at Goshatwadi village, about 10km from Koyana dam in Satara district, as said by Met office. There was no injury caused to life or damage to property reported.
    Tremor could also be felt at adjoining places like Mumbai, Satara, Pune, Nashik, Solapur, Kolapur,Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Belgaum in Karnataka on Saturday. Few parts of Saurastra in Gujarat could also feel the tremor.
    Nair told, “Though we haven’t got any human casualties or damage reports, but still we are waiting for the further details of the impact of these two tremors. There is no need to panic for the people.”
    Last week an earthquake measuring 8.9 on Richter scale hit Sumatra region, Indonesia, which was also felt in Singapore, Thailand, centring 33 km beneath the ocean; to the extent tsunami warning was issued to 28 countries, which was later extracted.
    Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Cuttack, Bhubaneshwar and various other cities located on the eastern coast of India could also felt the tremor.
