JALANDHAR: On 16th April Monday, according to reporters one or two persons were killed and many workers were trapped under the collapsed building, said Jalandhar police.
As they got the news on Monday early morning, the team of local fire bridge and Punjab policestarted to rescue people from that spot. The whole team rescued around 55 people who were trapped under collapsed building. This place is situated 150 km far from the state capital Chandigarh. According to the Punjab police, TheSheetal Fabrics factory was situated in central point of city’s area. The reason behind this collapse was due to the blast in factory’s boiler at Sunday midnight.
The media has stated that when the building was collapsed there were around 100 workers inside the factory. The building was completely flattened due to some blast. According as official of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) there were still two bodies trapped under the collapsed building.
The factory was owned by Mr. Sheetal Vij one of the prominent Jalandhar based industrialist who was not at all ready to comment on the disaster. DCP Priyanka barti said, “All those injured people who were rescued got admitted in hospital for urgent treatment”.
One of the migrant laborers has stated to media that “we heard a big blast then building started to fall around us. We feel so lucky that we ran out before we get crushed under the building”. It is also heard that still the NDRF team and Punjab police including Central Reserve police Force(CRPF) are trying to rescue the trapped workers.
According to deputy commissioner it is still hard to say the exact number of trapped worker. He also added that the cause of blast is still not confirmed by the experts. The factory owners said that while building got collapsed there were only 60 to 70 workers in the building. Rescue operation is still running though it is raining from morning in that city.
