Natural Products Conference, Kathmandu

An international conference was organized in Nepal by Center for Molecular Dynamics Nepal (CMDN) in collaboration with the Indian Embassy, Kathmandu and Ministry of Science and Technology (Government of Nepal); and in association with B.P. Koirala India – Nepal Foundation. The conference helped gather researchers, academics, business leaders and government representatives from Nepal and India. This conference was to facilitate brainstorm ideas to promote natural product research and development in this area, focusing on Nepal and with India as a key partner in this. Indian Speakers include Director of Regional Center of Biotechnology- Dr.Salunke India, Dr. M. Aslam (Director Dept. of Biotechnology); Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar (JNU) and Dr.S. Maiti (Director, Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research), Dr. C. K. Katiyar (Vice President & Head of Health Care Research, Dabur India). The outcome of this conference was a panel of experts formed representing Nepal and India to promote this work, and to identify key areas where immediate and long term collaboration can be established. The main theme of the conference was “Research and Development of Natural Products for commercialization”.
