• Get The Start Menu Back In Windows 8 Consumer Preview

On 29th February, Microsoft released the Windows 8 Consumer Preview for public testing. The company saw more than 1 million downloads during the first day of its release. You might have already downloaded and installed Windows 8 Consumer preview on your PC and you may know by now that Start Button is now gone. For the first time since its inception, Microsoft has decided not to include the Start Menu in the Windows operating system.
As time goes by, as the technology changes, the new adjustments are being made. Windows 8 is the best operating system I’ve ever seen, and I believe that most of you are going to agree with me. However, some people think that removing Start Button from the Windows operating system is the one of the worst changes Microsoft ever did, and there is no way to get Start Menu back in Windows 8.

But Wait a second, there is a way. Stardock has announced a free program for Windows 8 that will bring the Start Menu back in Windows 8. If you’ve been following this blog for a while now, you would remember that I posted a trick to get the classic Windows 7 start menu in Windows 8. But Stardock has come up with an awesome tool named Start8 that offers Windows 8 users a way to launch the familiar Start Menu without having to kill the Metro Interface. (See the above Screenshot)
You can’t use the program in previous version of Windows such as Vista, XP or even Windows 7. Start8 is specially developed for Windows 8 Consumer Preview, and the company, Stardock, is now looking forward to make the program compatible with the final build of Windows 8. Take a look at the features you’ll get after installing Start8 in your Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
    • Adds a “Start” menu to the Windows 8 taskbar
    • Enables quick access and searching of your installed applications
    • Adds Run… option via right-click menu
    • Adds Shutdown… option via right-click menu
    • Choose a custom Start button image
Once you’ve installed Start8, a start menu will appear automatically in the left side of the Windows 8 taskbar. You can search for installed programs the same way you used to search in previous versions of Windows. The program also provides access to shutdown option via right click menu. If you have installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview and want the Start Menu back, go ahead and download Start8 program from here.
