Bollywood star couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol have decided upon working on an awareness-related movie together. The couple have joined hands with Maharashtra government’s campaignagainst female foeticide. This is a serious issue our country is facing since long. The state’shealth department has given consent to Ajay’s social awareness related movie.
As per the health minister Suresh Shetty, the department has certainly praised the script and it will be an attempt from government’s side to produce this film, which will be accessible in maximum theatres.
Shetty replied, “We are firmlyexecuting laws in order to stop child sex determination, and for this reason social awareness campaignis absolutely compulsory. Ajay is producing this film for free, and thetwo stars are reaching out to help the government in the social awareness campaign. They areanticipated to begin the filming very soon.”
It was only in the last week thatShetty wrote to actor-filmmakerAamir Khan after he hosted his first episode on ‘female feticide’ on his TV show Satyamev Jayate. The minister has recommended him strongly to join hands with thestate government on this serious matter.
Couple Ajay-Kajol have also become the new brand ambassadors of ‘save the girl child campaign’ which is under Maharashtra government.
The figures of child sex ratio of 1991 Census showed 946 girls per 1,000 boys. In 2011, the figures dipped to 833 girls per 1,000 boys, as per the census.
Thus in Maharashtra the girl child population has lessened sharply. Last month only the public health minister Suresh Shetty had appealed to the actors to support this issue.
Shetty’s conception of female feticide is the ‘most discourageous, inhuman and uncivilised way of practise.” He added, “If the popular actors will participate in such social awareness issues, then it will surely encourage our efforts and produce better results soon.”
Hope Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s efforts of making a film on female feticide make the common people more aware so that they become more aware and don’t attempt for it in future!
