A G Perarivalan, being one of the three convicts on death string in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, has proved himself in some better way as he scored more than 91% in Tamil Nadu Class 12 exams.
The 37 year old went on to score 1,096 marks out of 1,200 and thus becomes the highest of 35 prisoners who had written their exam papers in March triumphantly.
In this assassination case he was the youngest accused among the three.
Currently he is encountering gallows withMurugan and Santhan.
In August 2011 the apex court had declined their petition; after this the three had appealed for a stay order on their execution on the basis that President took to 11 years in resolving their mercy petitions.
Peravalan is interested of poetry and the teachings of Tamil saint poet Thiruvalluvar; also he is a keen reader.
Besides Peravalan, the other inmate Soundarapandian in Madurai prison achieved 1080 marks (90%) in the class 12 exams.
Prisoner Munusamy secured 988 marks (82.33%) who is now in Puzhal prison.
The results of Class 12 examinations were revealed by Tamil Nadu education department on Tuesday.
According to S K Dogra, “I am extremely happy to know the results. It was last year when only 19 prisoners sat for class 12 exam. This year the number is doubled and all the 35 inmates who sat for exams passed out successfully,” who is the additional director general of police (ADGP – Prisons).
